Ladies and Gents.
I've changed my blog...again.
I don't particularly like this format.
Alas, you can view me on my new and prettier page.

a good ol' fashioned resignation
finally! a normal fricken resignation in the bush administration. US Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns is resigning to run for the Senate seat to replace the resigning Chuck Hagel from Nebraska. seems a shit load of people are falling off the wood work.
finally a politician who's resigning to fulfill his own selfish ambitions instead of resigning because he fulfilled his own selfish ambitions.

wear a color to change the world
what is with university student level social change tactics that involve wearing a color for a cause. recently i saw this one on facebook where they encouraged people to wear green to protest the Jena High School incident. and near the bottom they wrote: GREEN=GROWTH AND SURPASSING HATE!!!
i always thought green symbolized avarice and greed and marijuana. don't you think its a bit silly to promote social justice and unity through wearing a certain color? is this what our political activism has fizzeld down to?

amazing absolutely amazing
i've gone through about three weeks without spending a dollar on food. isn't that fricken awesome? here's how my diets been:
1. breakfast: cereal bar (bought by my parents) with free coffee offered in the office kitchen (or green tea).
2. lunch: oatmeal (i have a huge tub of it) with cinnamon and sugar and more free coffee/tea
3. dinner: cereal
4. misc: i inhale anything that i can find free. sometimes the office leaves left over meeting food in the kitche (ie: sandwiches, potatoe salad - which was yesterdays, and fruit salad...etc) and free candy i can find anywhere i go (aka hillary for president campaign headquarters)
and the meanwhile, i've been losing weight. it's a win win situation!

in the universe's second shell world of the 2nd interplanetary system of the third ring from the solar arrangement world of medicare
...exists the "Office of Compassionate Allowance."
gosh, i had to be the head of that office. imagine the heaps of angry letters you'd get for not showing certain individuals compassion while showing others.

outrageous britney style
in today's news...
russian ex-KGB sushi poisoning bad ass Lugovoi is running for parliament! he stated that he initially had not intentions for getting involved in politics but after that little row with england he's decided to run! ahh, it is social justice as its best. after being wrongly accused by an entire island nation of poisoning a man in their capitol city for a crime that happened coincidentially an hour after he left the victim, he's taken up the cause of the wrongfully accused and is running for parliament in...well...the most rubber stamp parliament in all of eastern europe.
hmm. this reflects on russian foreign/domestic policy. do the most outrageous thing possible in any shitty situation and eventually the sheer outrageousness of it will save the day. that seems to be how russian history is run. one gigantic outrageous act after another (some on a cosmic scale and others on a more minute political scale). the building of saint petersburg. the entire drama of the soviet union. the monstrosity the shape of a ball sack they're trying to build in the saint petersburg sky line. golden toilet seats...and so much more.

busy busying with myself
outside of work i'm finding some fun activities to join! here i've taken the liberty of listing them for your imagination's sake when it asks you "I wonder what John is doing outside of work?"
- I've volunteered two days a week for the "Hillary for President" campaign in the DC office (sorry Ann, Obama-mama didn't do it for me)
- I've volunteered for WAMU's (the NPR News station for Washington DC) annual telethon drive. I just man the phones and eat free catered food. Who can complain?
- I've joined a Russian language group that meets once a month to just talk in Russian.
- I'm planning on attending the National Gallery of Art's Russian film line called "Journey Through the Russian Fantastik" along with various other Russian exhibitions I can find.
- I've also volunteered to help at a job fair for asian americans at the US Department of Transportation called "Opportunity Fair" (lotsa of free work i'm doing, at least some provide free food)
I'm still looking for other stuff but this is a good start. I might as well as try to get myself as involved as possible before I move out of georgetown and into merryland!
